From a young age, Kristen Hartter was drawn to the enchanting world of literature. She spent hours lost in the pages of her favorite books or creating stories for her figurines to act out. Inspired by C.S. Lewis, Kristen dreamed of one day creating her own tales that would whisk readers away on unforgettable adventures.

As she entered her teenage years, Kristen's passion for writing blossomed. Drawing inspiration from computer games, she began crafting her own stories, weaving together intricate plots and vibrant characters. Kristen poured her imagination into her writing, honing her story crafting skills with each new epic adventure.

Kristen's journey as a writer took a unique turn when she graduated in 2010 with a degree in Animal Science from the University of Missouri Columbia. She dedicated fifteen years working closely with animals. Her journey included an internship at the St. Louis Zoo where she immersed herself in the fascinating world of wildlife conservation. Additionally, she worked alongside veterinarians and veterinary technicians who taught her the true meaning of compassion and kindness. However, her innate love for storytelling sparked a transformative shift in her career trajectory.

Driven by her experiences and fueled by her admiration for the literary giants who had ignited her imagination, Kristen embarked on a new journey as a fantasy author. Drawing from her rich experiences working with animals and her adventures exploring the natural world, Kristen set out to craft enchanting tales that weave together elements of fantasy and animal companionship to reveal the profound connections between humans and the animal kingdom. Looking to those who had experience in the industry, Kristen attended classes at the Mid-Continent Public Library. Specifically, she enrolled in the Story Center's Written Storytelling Certificate program and published her first short story with Woodneath Press in 2025 titled Street Life To Snuggles.

Other projects continue to be in the works including Source, a psychological fantasy niching in mythic fiction, submitted for consideration for publication as of April 2026.
